How to use it

list_sheets is exposed by the MCP Google Sheets MCP server. Add the server to your MCP client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf and others), and the list_sheets tool becomes available to the model automatically. See the full listing for setup details and every tool this server provides.

(optional boolean, default False): If True, returns full grid data including formatting and metadata (much larger). If False, returns values only (more efficient).

queries

(array of objects): Each object needs spreadsheetid, sheet, and range. Example: [{"spreadsheetid": "abc", "sheet": "Sheet1", "range": "A1:B2"}, ...].

range

(optional string): A1 notation (e.g., 'A1:C10', 'Sheet1!B2:D'). If omitted, reads the whole sheet/tab specified by sheet.

ranges

(object): Dictionary mapping range strings (A1 notation) to 2D arrays of values. Example: { "A1:B2": [[1, 2], [3, 4]], "D5": [["Hello"]] }.

recipients

(array of objects): [{"emailaddress": "user@example.com", "role": "writer"}, ...]. Roles: reader, commenter, writer.

(optional integer, default 5): How many rows (including header) to preview. Example: 5.

(string): The desired title for the spreadsheet. Example: "Quarterly Report Q4".
