check_openscad

MCP tool from Openscad MCP by RobertCoop

Verify OpenSCAD installation, version and capabilities

How to use it

Project documentation lists check_openscad for the Openscad MCP MCP server. Add the server to your MCP client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf and others), then check which tools your installed version makes available. Tool availability can depend on configuration and credentials. A server handshake does not verify this tool’s behavior. See the full listing for setup details.

Install Openscad MCP

Other tools in Openscad MCP (14)

clear_cache

Clear the render cache

create_model

Create a new .scad file in the workspace

delete_model

Delete a model file

export_model

Export to STL, 3MF, AMF, OFF, DXF, or SVG

get_libraries

Discover installed OpenSCAD libraries

get_model

Read a model file and its metadata

get_project_files

List .scad files and their include/use dependency graph

list_models

List all models in the workspace

measure

Exact numbers from the exported geometry: bbox, dimensions, volume, surface area, solid and cavity counts, watertightness, meshhealth. mode=parts measures each part of an assembly, mode=section returns cut contours with area, mode=mass adds grams for a material. Accepts an existing STL/SVG via mesh

reference

Sourced engineering data with confidence labels: fits and clearances, metric fasteners, heat-set inserts, bearings, magnets, joints, FDM design rules, materials, OpenSCAD cheatsheet, conventions

render

Images with a text digest before each one (camera, view direction, scale, bbox). mode=views (one image per view, or a custom camera), mode=section (exact cross-section with a scale bar), mode=parts (each part in its own colour, isolate ghosts the rest), mode=compare (before/after). grounded=true giv

scad_eval

Evaluate expressions in a model's variable scope and get typed values (number, vector, string, bool, range, undef)

update_model

Update an existing model's content

validate

mode=syntax (parse and evaluate, no geometry), mode=geometry (mesh findings: open edges, non-manifold, several solids, cavities), mode=predicates (assert ["W > 10", "H == 2W"] in the model's scope), mode=includes (every include/use/import resolved or not)
