  1. Recommended: in the Screenpipe desktop app, open Settings > Connections. Its generated configuration uses bundled Bun and supplies the local API key.
  2. For manual setup, install Node/npx and keep Screenpipe running on localhost:3030. The MCP launcher is npx -y screenpipe-mcp@latest; npx screenpipe record is a recorder command, not the MCP server.
  3. Get your local key with screenpipe auth token. Replace the placeholder below in your own client configuration, then restart the client. Keep the key private; do not send it to MCPVault.

The current source uses the Screenpipe Commercial License; review the upstream licence and product terms for your use.
