Browsing the vault

An MCP server you connect to your AI client runs with real permissions on real data, so picking one deserves more than a star-count glance. Every listing in the vault is built to answer the same three questions fast: is anyone home, is the code healthy, and does it work with my client.

Read the status first

The badge in the corner of every listing tells you whether a human stands behind the page. Unclaimed means the listing was auto-indexed from public data and no maintainer has taken responsibility for it yet. Claimed means the maintainer verified ownership and curates the page. Verified means we started the server ourselves and completed a real MCP handshake: it demonstrably works. The full semantics live in Listing statuses.

Then the grade

Every server carries a letter grade from A to F computed from objective repository signals: how recently it was pushed, adoption, license clarity and documentation. Grades are recomputed as we re-index, so they reflect the current state of the project, not a snapshot from launch day. The exact rubric is public: Quality grades. As a rule of thumb: A and B are safe bets, C deserves a look at the repository, D and F mean proceed with your eyes open.

Client compatibility

Listings show which MCP clients the server is known to work with: Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code, Zed, Cline and ChatGPT. On unclaimed listings this is detected from the README, so treat it as a hint. On claimed listings the maintainer sets it, which is one of several reasons claimed pages are simply more useful.

Tool pages

For most servers we index the actual tools the server declares, each with its own page. That means you can see exactly what a model will be able to do with the server connected, before you install anything. If a server claims to be a database connector but exposes one vague tool, the tool list tells on it.

Categories and search

The vault is organized into ten categories: Databases, Developer Tools, Search & Web, Files & Storage, Productivity, AI & ML, Finance, Communication, Automation, Security. Combine a category filter with a status or grade filter to answer questions like: show me verified database servers, or A-grade automation servers. Search covers names, descriptions and topics.
